growing up in WV. I was out with neighbor kids playing/snow sleding after school and came home for dinner about 5:30 pm (it was already dark) and a special news report came on TV at that time about the Silver Bridge collapse. Also remember local news stations reporting on the Mothman (not sure that name was used at the time) sightings over the weeks previous to the bridge collapse, but never connected "mothman" with the bridge collapse. The Mothman thing was pretty exciting at the time (at least to us kids). I remember the Huntington/Charleston area news had been interviewing witnesses to Mothman, including the two couples that had their car chased by the creature (which I think was the first reported sighting of Mothman in the Point Pleasant area).
